Easier steps to understanding the TSA Guide!

Robert Brown, SFTRA's Co-opted member of the Committee has been working very hard on putting an easier step by step guide for our Tenants and Residents of Sutton on the TSA. You can find a copy of the booklet on our Consultation page. The main launch of the Booklet will be going out at SFTRA's AGM on 21st September 2010. Please feel free to download, print and show to your neighbours and friends and have an influence on future decision making!

Sadly we say Goodbye to

Jean Crossby!

Jean Crossby chair of SFTRA has taken the heart wrenching decision to retire and stand down as chair of SFTRA at the SFTRA AGM in September.  Jean announced that due to health problems she can no longer carry on her commitment as role of chair to the Federation.  Jean has been on the SFTRA Committee for 15 years, and has been in chair for 6 of those years.  I am sure you will agree, Jean has done a fantastic job for the tenants of London Borough of Sutton, always fighting for their best interests from the march up to Downing Street with
' Knock, Knock Knocking on Gordon's Door' the 'Moonlight Robbery Campaign' and fighting tirelessly to keep Sutton's Council rent money in Sutton with the HRA remit and Decent Homes money. SFTRA have also been instrumental in bringing £8 million of external funding into the Borough from 2009-2010 alone!

On a lighter note, but none the less still working for the benefit of the Community, Jean has been the lead on the St Helier Festival, which had its second successful year. This is a day Jean and SFTRA put so much hard work in to organising with the help of SHP and the London Borough of Sutton.  Jean commented "I just love seeing all the community come together for a day of fun and enjoyment" This event costs approximately £15,000 to stage, and all the money is raised from funding and sponsorship of which Jean works endlessly to raise.

I could write a never ending book on the impact Jean has had since joining SFTRA, but you as tenants of the London Borough of Sutton and friends of Jean know how passionate she has been about her duty as chair of SFTRA.  It just goes for me to add that Jean, you will be sadly missed by SFTRA, Sutton's residents, SHP staff, and the London Borough of Sutton Council staff and Councillors.  May we take this opportunity to wish you well in the future, enjoy your well deserved retirement, and Thank You for all your hard work with us xx

On 21st September at SFTRA’s AGM the new committee will be elected.  SFTRA have 3 vacancies on the committee.  Due to Jeans retirement there is a vacancy for the post of Chair if you are interested in joining SFTRA, please contact me, Karen Price Sutton Federation of Tenant and Resident Associations, Sutton Gate, 1 Carshalton Road, Sutton, Surrey, SM1 4LE, Tel 0208 915 2349, E-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.  ST HELIER FESTIVAL 2010!
A Great Day, enjoyed by all the Community!

On Saturday June 12th 2010  the St helier Festival took place on the open space at St Helier.  The day was a great success with over 4,000 residents attending.  There were two stages with various acts taking place, and two other main highlights were the Information Village and the NHS information provided.  There were over 300 feedback forms completed by residents, here are some of the comments made about the event:

Great family day! Helpful staff, Great atmosphere! Better than last year! Well organised, lots of variety! Great information, especially  in the information village on health, this Borough has so much to offer! Brilliant, just Cool! Keep up the good work!

There were a few negative comments:
To hold the Festival on one field to get more of an atmosphere. This is to definately be considered for next year. A  Beer tent was also suggested.  The St Helier Festival will never sell Alcohol as this is a family event.

Jean Crossby, chair of Sutton Federation of Tenant and Resident Associations would like to thank all those who took
part, and all those that attended this truly spectacular day!
